The Right Choice

Longer Lens or Waders that was the choice. I needed to get closer to the nesting goose than my 18-200mm would let me. It might have been nice to buy a longer lens but I went with the waders and it has paid off big time. This is the third day I’ve been having breakfast with the nesting Goose. I decided to push the envelope. The first two days I stayed reasonably far away and didn’t hassle the goose. Today I set my chair up closer and ate breakfast. Upon finishing I got up and started moving around looking for interesting shots. I’ve just finished scanning the shots and there are many good shots. Here are a couple preliminary wide angle shots.

I figured I was probably pushing my limit with the Goose. The last two days after I had finished my breakfast she ignored me. Today she kept the eye ball on me the whole time. Eye contact made for a better shot anyway.

You can’t get these kinds of shots with a longer lens.

cool. that is a big nest. Hope the wolves do not get ‘em ;) but those are great pictures. Maybe I will be that good someday.

yeah, nature photos are all about opportunity and patients. Not many animals like having their pictures taken, and other just do not care. I want to take pictures of wolves, but they are hard to come by and can be a little camera shy if you do not know what you are doing around them. Anyways. I look forward to checking out more of your great pictures. Later.
