I caught some feeding action on the Blandings Turtle that I photographed yesterday.
Can’t get very close to the Turkey Vulture. As I watched the bird spread it’s wings and left them spread as if to dry them out but probably more like just stretching the muscles. He seemed to be watching the site of the dead turtle to make sure it was safe to descend.
There was some kind of hawk at the site too, but he was chased away very quickly by small birds that were nesting nearby.
As I got closer I scared the Turkey Vulture off.
The small birds chased the Turkey Vulture too but not with the same enthusiasm. I came back about 15 minutes later and the vulture was getting ready to chow down. Turkey Vulture seem to have some sort of vulture social life as seen in this older post.
I’ve been riding my bike lately just for the exercise. Finally I’ve grown strong enough so that it is not a huge effort. I can now laugh at the hills.
On this Saturday morning ride I bumped into a couple going fishing down at Constance Lake. They were pumping up a rubber dingy, and I thought riding a bike was tough.
It is nice to see a couple doing something “significant” together, kind of a rare sight.

Blandings turtle. Now that’s good eatin’.
Eatin’ good in the neighborhood.
