Up north here in the Canadian Shield sometimes called the Laurentian Shield you really need a boat to get out and about. The land is hilly, forested, sparsley populated and filled with bodies of water, large and small. The road network is kind of minimal and walking through trees is difficult, but the water is another story. In days of old the canoe ruled but in my days of old, the motorized boat rules, while the canoe takes up garage space.
The weather on Big Gull Lake looked challenging at first but finally settled into something reasonable. We only got rained on twice and both times were able to find a sheltered cove out of the wind, so we only got wet rather than wet and bone cold.
The fishing was a non starter, probably something to do with acid rain. But there were other things…

Great photos! Had me jumping for joy!
Love the silhouette shot, perfect timing.
Looks like a nice cold dip.
I miss the wilds of Ontario. Will have to plan a trip up your way soon. Let me know when the wolves return!
Scott, “Wilds of Ontario” at first seems strange, is it really wild? But then I remember my first driving trip through the states, just after graduation. We expected to be able to just stop by the highway and pitch our tent, like we could in Ontario. It wasn’t till we got to New Mexico that we were able to pitch the tent in the wilds.
Wolves: I don’t know of anyone that knows what the wolves are doing, they come and go.
Candace, I wasn’t too sure how these silhouette approach was going to work, but it turned out well.
Maureen, I wish I could have been jumping too. But the weather was not hot enough for my old bones.
