It would seem that the further we get from the human form the less likely we are to think that another life form is good looking.
At least this frog has a face with named attributes that match our human ones. They even have four appendages. Still, this lowly frog seems to be too far from removed from us to trigger an empathetic response.
But, this photo, for me, captures a human quality in the frog’s expression that elevates the image from just another frog picture.
We seem to have a built in chauvinistic bias favoring our own form.

I think they can be. I love frogs and this one does seem to have a lot of character.

I don’t think they’re cute. In this photo, yes, in real life, I’m afraid not… But I think this photo i great, and it’s so exciting to see the details so close up!
