Tickle My Fancy

Lately I’ve photographically arrived at a place I’ve been looking for.

For the time being, nice sharp pictures I find quite constraining, in that I see what I’m supposed to see and not much more, the mind remains fixed in the reality of the picture.

My place right now is appreciating pictures that let my mind wander with just a tickle to steer me in the right direction.

Pictures like the one below (and the rest in this series) really only work for me when they are big, as in eyeballs around one foot from the monitor. Small pictures just aren’t immersive enough to yank my mind away from reality and let it drift. Accompanying music also helps a great deal.

I don’t know which I like better; your photos or your musing. But who said we have to choose, eh? The combination is great!

It’s exciting to read your most recent posts and follow you as you take this turn in your journey. I particularly picked up on the idea that color is difficult because it is so close to reality. I hadn’t thought about this before, but agree that it sets up the expectation then that we should be restricted to reality. Extremely thought provoking stuff and I hope you will continue to explore this both with your camera and in your writing.

The colors in those leaves is gorgeous.
