The most important thing in sport fishing is to have fun and create lasting memories. This is much more difficult than it first appears. One of my favorite quotes addresses this issue very succinctly.

“Many men go fishing all their lives without knowing that it is not fish they are after” by Henry David Thoreau.

One thing to keep firmly in your mind, is that in the developed world most information on sport fishing is all about selling product, very cleverly disguised to make it look like they are helping you to fish. It’s not that these slick productions are wrong, but rather that there are much more effective and cheaper ways to achieve your objectives in fishing.

When searching available literature and other media in your quest for fishing knowledge I would recommend that you stay away from anything that dosen’t have a chapter similar to my How to Learn to Catch Fish. I think you should ignore it or at least take it with a grain of salt. It should also have something about what Thoreau was referring to.

Despite my favorite quote above, catching fish is part of fishing, and since it is the easy part, I’ll have a few words to say about it.

I’ll also try and talk a little about the more difficult issues that Thoreau might have been referring to.

How to Learn to Catch Fish – This is the tricky part of catching fish but it’s easy and fun.

How to Catch Fish – This is the easy part of fishing.

How to Locate Fish – This is the most difficult part of fishing.
